About Us

 Growing up in Lattakia, Syria, I was constantly immersed in a variety of different foods. As I would walk through the streets, I would be met with the smell of fresh street food, which would soon be drowned out by the aromas of my mother’s home cooked meals. From a young age, I became increasingly interested in not only the food, but also the community that came along with it. In Syria, however, a successful future of prosperity did not lie in the hands of a chef. My dream of cooking slowly muted while pursuing my current career of becoming an engineer. I eventually used this degree to move to the U.S.. 

The years went on, but the small thought of pursuing a career in cooking still buzzed in my ear. Now, here I am, pursuing the career I have always dreamed of. My goal is to bring people together through food. Through each bite, I want people to taste the flavors of Syrian cuisine, along with the hands of the people who taught me these recipes. This is my story, and I invite you to share it with me at The Hamwi Table.
